Use honey with a good flavour for best results. A vegetable peeler will quickly and easily remove strips of rind from the lemon.
4 medium pear, peeled, halved and cored
1 tbsp lemon juice
25g/ (1oz) toasted hazelnuts, chopped
4 tbsp clear honey
425ml (3/4pint) apple juice, grape juice or water pared rind of 1 lemon
- Place the pears, cut side down, in the slow cooker, sprinkle with the lemon juice and hazelnuts.
- In a small pan(or in the microwave), heat the honey and apple juice gently with the lemon rind, stirring until the honey has dissolved. Pour over the pears.
- Remove the lemon rind and transfer to a serving dish to cool. Chill until required.
