Plantains in Bacon

Ingredients Required:

4kg Plantain(s)



Streaky Bacon

The combined flavours of sweet plantain and savoury bacon is delicious. Plantains are ripe when their skins begin to blacken and they feel soft.


4 ripe plantains.

12 slices streaky bacon.


  1. Peel the plantains and slice each into 6 chunks.
  2. Halve the bacon slices and wrap a piece around each chunk of plantain, securing with a cocktail stick.
  3. Stand each on its end in a baking dish and bake at 180C/gas 4 for about 40 mins. until the bacon is crispy and the plantain soft.
